Scored for full band, including large mallet ensemble, this setting uses Grainger’s Lord Melbourne as its wind-setting model. The opening solo, scored originally by Grainger for French horn, has been cued into all the normal solo band instruments, giving the conductor many options. In the recorded version on this page, the solo is played by Euphonium.
